I have known Ray H. for over twenty years. I am fanatical about my hair. I don’t know why exactly, but I am. With this understanding, I’ve been a client of Ray’s for about 6 months. I knew that Ray was a stylist all these years, but feared an uncomfortable situation in the “likely” event that I would in some way be dissatisfied by his work. All I can say is that was a huge miscalculation. After years of jumping from salon to salon, often following my high priced stylist(s) around town, my wife (who had become a Ray client a couple years prior) urged me to give Ray a try. I agreed to see him temporarily while my regular stylist was on an abbreviated leave. Well, my “try” ended up turning into a resolution: “I will never get my hair cut again by anyone other than Ray, so long as we both live!!”
See, Ray turns out to not be a stylist at all……rather, an incredible “artist,” that will blow your mind. I always tell him that he should be featured in Manhattan, or on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills! So, if you want the care, attention to detail and artistry for 2015 that can normally only be found in the trendiest of markets…..get to this salon in West Portland, and go see Ray!!
The shop has been rebranded from its former name, MarDon. The new owner is Pam, and what a delight she is. The entire staff has been at it a long time. I was shocked to learn the tenure of this teams many stylists. The salon has a warm, welcoming feel. New ownership is updating the interior and changing some of the decor. What needs to be understood is that you will get the finest work, premium service…..all that Hollywood has to offer, at what I consider, small town pricing. Do yourself a favor, make a resolution….like I did, and go see Ray. You’ll never let another “artist” touch your hair!
